I've been in love with the written word for as long as I can remember. I learned to read very early in life and was ahead of other children my age when I was in grade school.
I did not always want to be a writer, that desire came very late in life. Though I have written short stories and poetry on and off since I was in high school, the real desire for writing came after I entered college. The kicker was I was 48 when I started college.
I discovered I was a pretty good writer. I wrote news articles, editorials, and opinion pieces for the campus newspaper for six semesters. And I was one of the editors and contributors to the campus arts journal that was published annually.
